An independent, confidential and free information and advice service to people living with a long- term health condition or disability, their families, carers and professionals.
Direct Payments Scheme Advice Team
If your Social Care Assessment shows that you have eligible social care needs, you can decide whether to arrange the care and support yourself or have the support arranged by the Council.
If you choose to arrange the care and support yourself a personal budget will be provided to help meet those needs. This is arranged as a Direct Payment. They will give you the personal budget to arrange your own care and support.

They offer assistance to people in a number of ways including a national network of branches, accredited volunteers, regular regional conferences and freephone and email helplines.
National Domestic Abuse Helpline
The National Domestic Abuse Helpline offers free, non-judgemental information and support to women experiencing domestic abuse, their family, friends, colleagues and others calling on their behalf. The Helpline can support to find specialist domestic abuse services in your community for ongoing support.
They can also help to find a space in a refuge for you and your children.

Macmillan Cancer Support is one of the largest British charities and provides specialist health care, information and financial support to people affected by cancer. It also looks at the social, emotional and practical impact cancer can have, and campaigns for better cancer care. Macmillan Cancer Support’s goal is to reach and improve the lives of everyone who has cancer in the UK.

Parkinson’s UK is the main Parkinson’s support and research charity in the UK. They can help if you’re living with the disease and let you know about support groups in the area.

Stroke Association is the major stroke charity in the UK. They work with people who share their commitment to changing the world for people affected by stroke – with stroke survivors and their families; with decision makers; with researchers and medics; as well as with supporters.

The Advocacy People is an independent charity that provides free independent and confidential advocacy services, to help resolve issues or concerns you may have about your health and wellbeing or your health and social care services.
Victim Support
Victim Support is the independent charity for people affected by crime and traumatic incidents in England and Wales. Their specialist teams provide individual, independent, emotional and practical help to enable people to cope and recover from the effects of crime.
