Welcome to Launceston Memory Café

A brief introduction
The Launceston Memory Café, the first in Cornwall, was opened in October 2007 and set up to provide a regular amenity for people who experience memory problems. Equally important, it offers opportunities for carers to meet other carers who may be sharing similar circumstances.

The café is run on a very friendly and informal basis by trained and experienced volunteers. There is a very warm welcome for visitors, with a choice of refreshments and a couple of hours to relax in a supportive environment and enjoy a regular break from the otherwise everyday routine.

A warm welcome awaits

Trips down memory lane are often triggered by some of the optional activities during the afternoon which can include music, books, puzzles and just general reminiscing through conversation about things from the past. Seasonal activities can include trips out for cream teas, barbecues and visits to places of interest as well as celebrating Christmas and our anniversary with parties

Fund raising festive Quiz

A devious Christmas quiz to raise funds for the Alzheimer’s Society. The charity is giving its full backing and support.
Alzheimer’s disease has become common throughout the country and probably you know someone, even maybe in your family, who is a sufferer. It affects the brain, causes dementia and has serious repercussions for those involved. The carers, often the
spouses, have a difficult time and the Alzheimer’s Society provides much needed help and continues research into finding a cure
The quiz is sponsored by Barclays Bank PLC who are matching funding up to £750. It is also supported by the Rotary Club of Tiverton. Their support means that every penny you donate will go to the Alzheimer’s Society as all expenses and prizes are covered. I hope you enjoy the quiz with its dress theme and that you will enter the competition for prizes (totalling £100). There is even a random prize of £10, irrespective of
score, drawn from all contestants after the first three prizes have been awarded.

Click here to download the quiz.

Good luck
